ERX represents a unique fusion of artificial intelligence and everyday consumer experiences, 100% decision free.

ERX is an interactive installation that takes the form of a beverage vending machine enhanced with artificial intelligence; instead of letting the user make their own selection, the machine initiates a dialogue. It observes and asks the visitor a few questions, to autonomously decides which drink they “should” receive. By turning a simple decision into an algorithmic process, ERX questions the dynamics of trust, belief, and control that shape our relationship with AI systems which, by their very nature, are largely opaque…

This project was commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the IRISA laboratory in Rennes, France, with the will to join efforts from an artist and a scientist.
